Planning for 2017
The Festival committee have met to discuss last year’s events and plans for the future. In general, we were delighted with the 2016 Festival, many thanks are due to everyone who gave their support, and we have had a lot of positive feedback. Please do let us know if you have any suggestions for improvements.
We are moving the festival dates slightly for 2017, a little later in September, so the dates are 14th to 24th September 2017
HAILSHAM ARTISTS NETWORK
As a spin off from last year’s successful annual Art Trail, we have set up a local Artist’s Network. In addition to having had enquiries about linking artists with service providers to work on art projects, other opportunities have arisen out of the art trail for artists to collaborate with local venues and businesses. Hailsham Artists Network hosted a networking lunch at Chapter 12 on Wednesday 1st Feb 2017 and drinks at 7pm for those who couldn’t make lunch time . All local artists and any individuals or organisations wishing to work with artists, are welcome to join the Network. Our next events are on Wednesday 29th March – Social Media training for artists at 10am in Eastbourne, and a tour of Geoff Pittman’s pottery studio in Hailsham in the evening followed by a get together and chat. Please contact the Network either on Facebook or via email.
We would like to increase the size of our committee so please do get in touch if you would like to help with plans for the 2017 Festival.

Pick up your copy of the programme from most shops in Hailsham, local libraries, Tourist Information and many other outlets in the area.
We have a fantastic lineup of events again this year including classical music, jazz, folk, rock and roll, choral singing and more. There are five free festival competitions to enter, the annual 3 Minute Wonders red carpet event at Hailsham Pavilion, workshops for adults and kids, lectures, drama, literary events, dancing and of course, the Art Trail.
There really is something for everyone and many of the events are free thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and supporters. Below are a few photos from events from the start of this year’s festival.
The shiny new printed programmes will be ready for collection from 6pm 0n Friday 12th August at Chapter 12 wine bar in the High Street. Come and pick up your copy and leaflets for many of the different festival events, meet some of the organisers and performers.
On Saturday 13th August we will have a stall in Vicarage Fields from 9.30am where you can collect programmes and leaflets, maybe buy some event tickets.
As part of Pickhams Arts Week there will be a free DIY Creative Marquee in the gardens where you can have a go at making a collaborative work of art, write poetry, make a film inspired by the garden trail (which features sculpture and art as well as fairies and monsters!). Free entry, donations for materials or bring your own materials.
Find out all about festival events and competitions, maybe have a taster from some of the performers… Saturday 13th August, 10.30 am to 4.30pm.

Jazz Dixon will be running an afternoon Glass sculpture workshop for accompanied children on Sunday 14th August in Wilmington. £5. Book your place in advance. Enter your sculpture into the free Festival competition. 2pm at Pickhams in Wilmington. Part of Pickhams Arts Week
